We have the expertise, tools and machines to bend and form the tubes and components vital for high quality cylinder production.
We specialize in bending and forming rectangular and specialty-shaped tubes for structural weldments. Dimensional capabilities range from under 1-inch to 8-inch diameter rounds.
To produce the shoulder and necks of the cylinders, many of our tanks require precise hot spin forming. Cold press forming includes deep drawing and ironing.
Our Worthington Machine Technologies division supports our metal forming processes with their tooling and machine-building capabilities. We tap into our many robust processing capabilities to fabricate best-in-class products for our customers.
A wide range of manufacturing facilities rely on our advanced metals evaluation laboratory for product and process development.
Our in-house team of metallurgical engineers allow us to partner with customers to provide supplier trials, materials-related problem solving and product development.
Some of our lab services include chemistries, mechanical properties analysis, tensile test, hardness test, micro evaluation, microhardness testing, spectro chemical analysis, profilometer test, R-Bar test, erichsen test, olsen cup test, zinc coating test, reverse engineering, certification, PPAP, failure analysis, various imaging processes (macro photography, scanning electron miscroscopy) and other analysis, to provide a microscopic view of materials. This allows us to predict the operations outcome of a material before running it live in a facility.
Durable paintings and coatings extend the life of our products by resisting corrosion and damage.
Cylinders are designed to endure rugged environmental and handling conditions. Our top-coat capabilities include fully automated E-Coat systems, Durabond and both powder and wet paint stations to ensure they stand the test of time.
Our safety standards far exceed industry regulations, with stringent testing processes to ensure unparalleled cylinder integrity.
Many of the products we produce store hazardous contents under tremendous forces of pressure. To ensure the integrity of their construction we perform various pressure tests including, but not limited to:
Pressure cycling, Hydrostatic testing, Burst testing and Bubble Leak Testing
We are a leader in structural welding, with expertise in multiple weld processes, paired with process controls, inspections and robotic capabilities. Our highly skilled welders are trained and certified to AWS D1.1/D14.3, and support GMAW, FCAW, SAW and Spot.
Weld specifications, paired with operator process instructions, ensure quality and accuracy. Weld-size gauging, micro-etching, magnetic particle testing and ultrasonic testing provide verification in the weld process.
In effort to improve efficiency and quality, robotic technologies are implemented across several product lines.
Our wide range of joining process capabilities extend to include:
